South West Tree Care is a local, independent tree surgery business serving Devon, Cornwall and the wider South West. For over 22 years we've looked after the trees, hedges and grounds of homeowners, estates, farms, businesses and local authorities across the region — from a single garden tree in Holsworthy to large-scale clearance work near the Cornish coast.

We're proud of the reputation we've built, and most of our work comes from repeat customers and word-of-mouth recommendations. That only happens by doing the job properly, charging fairly, and leaving every site as tidy as we found it.

Our story

Leo McDonnell started South West Tree Care over 22 years ago with a simple aim: to offer expert, honest tree care that local people could rely on. What began as a one-man operation has grown into a trusted name across Devon and Cornwall, but the values behind it haven't changed.

Today we work right across the South West, with bases in Holsworthy in Devon and Tintagel in Cornwall, giving us good local knowledge of the area — including the exposed coastal conditions that put our trees through their paces.

We offer the full range of professional tree and grounds services, including tree pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, hedge trimming, ground clearance and all aspects of tree surgery. Our approach

Honest advice. We'll always tell you straight. If a tree doesn't need to come down, we'll say so — and suggest a better option.

Done properly. Our work follows recognised arboricultural standards (BS 3998), carried out by qualified, experienced hands.

Safety first. Tree work is hazardous, so we plan every job carefully and work fully insured to protect you, your property and our team.

Tidy finish. We clear up after ourselves and leave your site clean and tidy, every time.
